Most of us picture the first Thanksgiving as a peaceful feast — smiling Pilgrims, long tables, and roasted turkey.
But the truth is far more gripping.
In 1620, a small group of believers crossed the Atlantic — not for adventure or wealth, but to worship God freely.
Their first winter was brutal. Half of them died.
And yet… when spring came, they stopped — and gave thanks.
This week, I released a new video called “Faith Under Loss — What the First Thanksgiving Teaches About Trusting God in Hard Times.”
It’s a story of faith, loss, and gratitude that still speaks to us today.

To help you live this out personally or with your family, I’ve also created a free 2-page printable handout:
First Thanksgiving handout.pdf
Inside you’ll find:
- The true story of the first Thanksgiving — and how God provided through hardship
- 4 key lessons about faith, courage, and gratitude
- A short prayer and reflection questions for your table or quiet time
Use it this week to pause, write down one loss and one mercy, and thank God for meeting you in both.
Because real thanksgiving isn’t ignoring pain — it’s bringing it before God and saying,
See you next week!
